Well, for all of you that were getting excited for The Hive, you may now be doubly excited, because there were just simply too many situations and plots tangled into one novel, so I split it in half, and there are now two books to follow Wolf Prints:
The Eight, and The Code.
Neither book is connected or has anything to do with each other except for my recurring character, Silvy Brown, who is actually making a big time apearance in The Eight. I am afraid there is no estimated completion date for either new book, but Wolf Prints seems to be getting well along to find a publisher for by July -hopefully.

As for Megacon, I am completely prepared to take both paperback and CD copies of Diamond Heels: Special Edition. I have had requests to dress up as my favorite "whatever-makes-a-nerd-a-nerd-character," so one may or may not find a spazz dressed as Princess Toadstool form the Super Mario Universe or perhaps even Lydia from the very book I am trying to sell. However, I say this entirely enthusiastically and theoretically, because I am unsure whether I am actually bave enough to handle such potential humiliation. Although, this being a sci-fi convention, I may very well blend right in adorned as a fictional character and rather stand out dressed civily. Then again, I do want to draw attention, don't I? What a complex situation I make of something so trivial! I likely will not dress up, just so save myself premature gray hair. I'm sorry, my adoring fans. ...Okay, I lie, I will likely swing full-nerd and dress as either Lydia from Diamond Heels or Tariste from The Code. Forgive me now-not-so-adoring-fans. I will comfort myself by having William Shatner (sp?) sign my daughter's Captain Kirk one-sie.

The prices for Lulu, my loathed self-publishing site, have sky-rocketed once again, making it harder for me (not to mention all my desperate fans/customers) to afford my book. While the customer must pay nearly $20 for the paperback copy, Lulu gets all proceeds while I earn an entire cent. Rediculous, no? Be glad I am puplishing me next several books with real publishers, who will not re-configure the format one last time immediately after saving the perfect file as required to the lulu.com site.

The above will be affecting the prices of my wares at megacon as follows: I am selling the paperback books for $20 (I am actually losing money this way, what with the equally risen shipping charges) and selling the CDs for a not so terrible $5. As the day wears on, the prices will be less rock solid and I will bend for best offer. For you lucky people getting this tidbit of information ahead of time, you may as well take advantage it! Honestly, my only wish is for people to buy my book. Heck, if I could afford it, I would give it away freely. Just read it! Haha, in other words, I am happy for bargainers. Take advantage of it, folks!

Well, there is the current list of updates. Be blessed, all, and have a fantastic weekend!

What I am doing now.

Well, everyone, I have offically done enough research to begin writing The Hive. Soon after I publish Wolf Prints this summer, I will throw myself full-throttle into creating this nautical adventure. There will be sneak peaks and teasers to follow.

I am nearing the beginning of the end of Wolf Prints, and I will not self-publish this one. I was planning to do so, but after creating Diamond Heels: Speacial Edition with Lulu.com and discovering the astronomical price, I am forced to move ahead earlier than I had intended. Therefore, instead of sending a major publisher a pre-published copy, I will send Wolf Prints straight to a major publisher (I have not yet chosen one). I do believe that Wolf Prints will do well in this new venture, however. I am extremely proud of my current book-baby.

Diamond Heels: Special Edition is planned to go to Megacon on Friday, March twenty-fifth. This does, of course, depend on whether I can afford copies of my own book. I am considering downloading the book and copying it onto CDs and selling them that way -cheaper for both myself and my buyers! After all, with the new e-readers (I myself adore my Barnes&Nobles Nook), hard copies of novels will become next to obsolete. Some say that the trend will fade, but the same was said about cell phones and the automobile. I prefer to be prepared.

On that note, be prepared to find Wolf Prints, Diamond Heels and Diamond Heels: Special Edition available on Kendall soon. I will announce when they are ready for ebook purchase.

That is all so far. Thank you to all of my followers and fans for your undying support!

MEGACON!!!

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's official! "Diamond Heels," in its Special Edition version is going to Megacon! :) I will be sitting next to my own dear mother who is advertising her book, "God's Still Small Voice -Screaming from the Bassinet at the End of the Bed." It's about me. And a little about my brothers. Buy it.
Anyway, moving on, "Diamond Heels -Special Edition" (DHSE) is different from the original "Diamond Heels" novella because of a few things.
ONE: The book itself looks much less like a novella than before. Let's face it; there is now 373 pages of information now. That is quite a stretch from the humble 182 it was before. Now, I would like to say I really did just add that much to the story, but alas, that is not exactly the case. You see, I wanted to keep the text as much the way it was as possible. I know it is not nearly the level of quality writing at which I perfom now, but that is kind of the beauty of a Special Edition -glorifying the old days. Besides, it is a very good peice of writing if I must say so myself, and I only get this from the many customers I have already served. Anyway, moving on again.
TWO: I added a couple scenes. Yes, yes, I know I just went over how I wanted to keep the story as it was -and I did. I simply added a little more foreshadowing for the big, climactic ending everyone was caught so by surprise by before. A little extra intrigue never hurt a book. The scenes do not change the story; they merely support it and make it a bit smoother.
THREE: I increased the font size from twelve to fourteen. It occured to me, watching my poor, elderly (don't kill me XP) father crane his neck and stretch or bend his arm in order to read the text, that an increased font size would be most diplomatic and more politically correct than passing out magnifying glasses.
FOUR: There is a new cover. My sweet, darling husband, who is also my graphic artist, has gone to basic training for a couple months, therefore I was left on my own to create the cover. That is my excuse if you do not like it. If you do like it, then I designed a very mysterious cover, being mostly black with some different shades of violet for the lettering. I also updated the catcher summary on the back cover so people will stop buying it for their poor, innocent children. Let me restate my warning. THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN'S BOOK! I mean, it is a clean, Christian book, but my bad guy is a bad guy, okay? There is some material not suitable for children under 13 years old.
FIVE: I added an introduction, thank-you page, and an about-the-author section.

Well, that is about it for my part of the blog. You can purchase "Diamond Heels" or "DHSE" on discount at lulu.com for now. Later I hope to publish it through Amazon. So I will next paste the summary found on the back cover of the Special Edition.

"Lydia Pauloway had once been her papa's pet, but when her new stepfamily moves in and her father dies, Lydia finds herself in a whirlwind of danger. Abused by her family, shunned by society, and stalked by a rapist, Lydia can find only one place to turn...

William Ravendire is a confident, outspoken young prince, destined for the throne. However, how can he ever hope to manage a kingdom if he cannot even manage his own heart?

Join the duo as they discover new faith in God and battle the odds to be joined in love."

Sneak Peak (actual chapter form "Wolf Prints"

Below is the first chapter of my upcoming novel (which will very most likey not be finished for Megacon, for those that were interested[Yay, I have more than one follower now!]). Since the first excerpt I put on the blog is no longer a legitimate part in the book, I thought I'd fess up something recent. I know I'd talked about a sequal at one point... Well, that may not happen after all. Silvy Brown is a recurring character through the rest of my books (excluding Diomond Heels), but unless I decide otherwise about the sequal to Wolf Prints, will not be starring in her own. Instead, after the publishing of Wolf Prints, I am leaning all my efforts into "The Hive." I am very much looking forward to that one. Anyway, enjoy the first, albeit short, chapter to Wolf Prints.

Chapter One
Churning madly in the belly of the midnight sky, copious, black clouds wrestled each other with terrible vehemence. Thrashing one way then pounding to the opposite, each fragment of storm slammed into the other, throwing jagged strings of fire to the ground with a deafening bellow.  The tumult increased as the storm clouds smashed their bulbous frames into the soft underbellies of their fellows. With a rip and a tear, the bottoms of the contenders shredded open, dropping sheets of flailing raindrops to cascade down to earth where they would slap gruelly against the ground.
The pelting rain beat harshly down on the head of Drake Everacre as he stood broodingly in the middle of the puddle-littered street. So this was Titusville, Florida: the stupid little town he was called to protect.
He scanned the houses on either side of him, lined neatly in rows along the road. The little homes were what some would call cute; pastel colored walls complimented red or white doors that, of course, contained a hospitable little window in each. Overgrown bushes grew congruently on each side of the garage of one home, and wild Indian Blanket were unashamedly cluttering the lawn of another.
Drake rolled his eyes at the red and yellow tie-dyed petals. It was probably some middle-aged, unmarried woman that dwelled there, insisting that the Indian Blanket was not just a weed to destroy because it flowered and was pretty -like an Indian’s blanket.
"Stupid fool." Drake muttered. "It's just a weed."
The downpour ceased as the warring clouds dissipated, and Drake shook the water from his shaggy, dark brown hair. Taking a deep breath and letting it out again, he strode down the street. The crescent moon came out from behind a wisp of cloud, making the water droplets rolling off his bare chest glisten. He circled the subdivision a couple of times before stopping again not far from where he had begun.
All around him, ceramic alligators, UCF banners, and pro-military bumper stickers vied for attention, trying to proclaim the residence’s individuality. However, no one here was really special. One neighbor was no different than the other.
He sighed and shook his head disapprovingly, then turned away and headed down an adjoining street. The moon hid itself again, but that didn't bother Drake; he could see very well in the dark. He certainly saw well enough to find the house he was looking for, and he stepped onto the porch to ring the doorbell.
A long, groggy, face greeted him a minute later, drool still seeping from between the lips. "Dude... it's like, 3am. I thought you weren't gonna come."
Drake shrugged and rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry I'm late, Cody. I hope I didn't wake you." He eyed his friend's oversized Orlando Magic jersey and baggy high school gym shorts.
Cody stepped back to let Drake inside, then closed and locked the door behind them. "Just be glad you didn't wake up the Mom-inator, man. We'd both be dead."
"I seriously doubt that." Drake strode through the living room and plopped his wet body down on the couch.
This time Cody stared at Drakes outfit, consisting minimally of soaked jean shorts and soggy Nike tennis shoes -without socks. "Didn't you bring anything with you? Tell me you didn't come from Chicago with just yourself!"
"I didn't have time to pack."
Cody let out his breath in a low whistle. "Man, you're a case. Mom's gonna flip. Why'd you come in such a hurry, anyway?"
"Why do you care?" Drake frowned, trying to get Cody to drop the subject. He didn't much like the guy, not that this piece of conversation was privy to very many, as it was.
"Maybe because I'm the one you're living with for the next few months. Ring a bell?" Cody huffed, and then he stared at Drake in a new light. "Dude, you're not running from the law, are you? 'Cause if you are, I can't harbor you here, man. My record's clean, for what it's worth. I don't wanna mess that up, or I'll never get my license. Mom says one screw up, and that's it until I'm eighteen!"
"You mean you're not driving by yourself yet?" Drake raised an unimpressed eyebrow.
Cody crossed his arms defensively. "If you had my mother, you'd understand. Seriously, though, I have to know what you're up to. Are you being chased by the cops, or what?"
"No, Cody, I am not in trouble -in any way- with the law.  Are you happy?" Drake glared with one open eye at his prying host. The other he kept closed in hopes that Cody would let him sleep.
Cody kept staring at him, trying to decide if he would trust his old friend. Finally, a stoop to his shoulders revealed to Drake that he had relented. "Okay. Whatever. See you in the morning, first thing. With the coordination of your dad, Mom took the liberty of enrolling you into Astronaut High School."
Drake growled deep in his throat and rolled his face into the pillow Cody threw at him. That was just about right. Dad had always been insistent about his son's education, and Cody's broad was even worse. He supposed there was no getting out of it if he still wanted to sleep indoors. "Good night, Cody." He snapped.
"Whatever, Drake." Cody trudged to his own room and shut the door. Drake could hear him fall onto his bed, then nothing more.
Then Drake himself closed his eyes and passed out of consciousness.

Getting Married/ Megacon info

Well, today is the day; My wonderful fiance and I are getting hitched tonight, which is very exciting for me, and less so thrilling for those waiting on my book because, let's face it, I'm not touching it until I am back from my honeymoon. Therefore, I am basically just blogging to gloat. Haha. My real name will actually become Kimberlee Long instead of Goodner, which loosely ties into the fact that this is my author's blog and I am wasting space with random personal life, but hey, so far I've got only one follower (Hi, Rachel!!!) and she is part of the wedding party and therefore will forgive my rambling. Also, she is a fellow (and might I add excellent) author herself and more than understands how difficult it is to keep on top of time schedules with these things. Well, I am officially sharing a table with my mom (April Goodner) at Megacon. Most likely. She will be advertising her book, "God's Still Small Voice: Screaming from the Bassinett at the End of the Bed." It's about me. Buy it. Also, my brothers and father appear as well, but I am the most important. FYI, God's still small voice of humility probably did not come to my mother through me. Anyway, moving on, if I have not completed Wolf Prints, then I will be advertising "Diamond Heels." Probably. If I actually go. Meaning, if I can afford to buy a bunch of hard copies of my book, because really, I lose money with every sale anyway, so it's not like I can buy more after people buy the books. ;) Still, it's worth it if my book gets read. That's all I truly care about. So I will sell it as cheaply as I can without jipping Lulu. That is, if I can afford some in the first place. Well, I have to go get married now. Tata!

Characters of "Wolf Prints"

Here is a compilation of a few main characters in my upcoming novel, "Wolf Prints." I figured it would be nice to get to know a little bit about the people who are dictating my time lately. To be quite frank, I am officially no longer making the decisions of my own book's outcomes. You see, I was very sure about the rules each turn would take, but Drake, Sophia, Steven and Elly have entirely different ideas, and they keep doing and saying things that makes the turns into twists and even the occasional loop! Yeah, that sneak peak I had given earlier, you may as well consider it void. Too many things have changed, and I must say that the new is far more intriguing, and far less mystical. Of course, now you all think I might be a tad crazy, speaking as if the characters I depicted are actually living beings making mischeif of my novel, but trust me: at least I'm not dangerous! ;) Seriously, though, this book truly is bringing out the best of my imagination. I really wish I can have this novel finished, published, and in my hands by march so I can attend (something)con, but alas... well, I still hope so. Maybe I'll get lucky. Anyway, enjoy.

Drake Everacre: Grew up in central Florida area, but moves to Chicago, Illinois in his youth before returning to Titusville, FL as a Werewolf at 18. He harbors a dark, mysterious past that continually haunts him, and his only solace is a brazen pride that slowly eats away at his identity.

Sophia Sanchez: Resident of Titusville for her entire life, but not interested in leaving -or doing anything outside her comfort zone. At all. Period. She has Type 1 Albanism, and it earns her a lot of unwanted stress. She has low self confidence, and she rely's heavily on what people think about her. When her life takes a crazy turn with the introduction of the new kid in school, Drake Everacre, she is sure her world is about to fall apart.

Steven White: A well-liked, easy mannered freshman at Astronaut highschool. He may be only 15, but he is mature enough to become the first member to join Drake's Pack, and the first Wer in over a hundred years not to appear as little more than a disfigured, bulky mass.. The instigator of what becomes an all out civil war between members of "The Great Pack," he proves himself to be more than the "pup" Drake thought him to be.

Eleanor "Elly" Charleston: Preppy, happy, and somewhat blonde-brained War Eagle cheerleader. She flocks with the popular crowd, but she feels drawn to more "ordinary" people, like her best friend, Steven. When Steven goes missing, she suspects the worst and contemplates taking matters into her own hands, landing her in a heap of trouble. The petty issues of her peers left meaningless in the domaneering shadow of eminent danger, she finds that she has some choices to make.

Bejamin "Ben" Cook: A young, muscular mechanic who works for his uncle at a local autoshop. As a coordinator for his church's youth group's road-trip events, he has fingers in just the pies Drake needs. Although subservient to Drake, Ben's age and caring nature makes him the pack's father-figure almost instantly. When he finds himself a real father, fear sets in -not only for the added responsibility, but for the danger in which his little family is suddenly put.

Cody Faulkner: A central Florida native, had once been Drake's best friend. When Drake mysteriously moves back down to Titusville, Drake's father asks he and his mother to take his wandering son in. At first, Cody is upbeat about his long-lost friend's reappearance in his life, but things have changed since Drake moved to Chicago. Now, nothing seems to be right, and Cody begins to wonder if there isn't more to life than... whatever it is Cody even consider's life. The worth of his existance challenged, Cody begins to search for something more important than himself. What he finds is far from what he had expected.

Anyway, there is a little character synopsis for you to chew on. :) Also, super-sneak-peak, there is a character I only mention once or twice, and her name is Silvy Brown. I'm not going to reveal much, but keep her name catalogued in your brain, because she is sneakily paving way for the sequal. :P On that note, I wrap up my blog. Be blessed, y'all.

Setting of "Wolf Prints"

Where do you imagine the Wolfman to pop out? In the dark forrest? The deep mountains? Not Wolfman Drake Everacre. I am setting my characters of "Wolf Prints" in a location most Wolfman stories are not set. I have based Drake in the Sunshine State -Titusville, Florida to be exact. Titusville, FL can be found on most maps, known not for its size or provincial lifestyle, not even for its rednecks (most of them live in Mims or Scottsmore anyway) but for hosting NASA. The citizens of Titusville have a better view of the Space Shuttle and rocket launches than those in Merrit Island. "Are the Vehicle Assmebly Building and Launch Pads A and B really that important th the story line?" one may ask. My answer is "Not really."  However, its proximity to Playalinda Beach and the Indian River is. The Indian River is one of the few places on Eath to host the famous bioluminescent microplankton every autumn. This microscopic algae-look-alike fills the water, making anything that moves within or on it glow a bluish green. My fiance and I were walking on a dock when a giant aqua-marine monster emerged from the depths, shimmering with no compare. It was only a manatee, of course, and unless you've experienced the thrill of the microplankton, you probably think I'm rather childish and silly going on about something shiny for so long. Nevertheless, it is the coolest thing I've ever seen, and I highly recommend visiting Titusville in September and checking out the dock across the street from Dogs R Us. As for Playalinda Beach, the name is Spanish for "beautiful Beach." It IS a lovely beach, and the best part is that compared to New Symerna, Cocoa, and Daytona, Playalinda is empty of people. Yes, there are still many families that enjoy the golden sand, bright sunshine, and phenominal surfing, but there is more than enough room to breathe. There are also no parking meters. Anyway, Playalinda is the home to natural sand dunes and sea turtle nests, as well as several species of birds. I know you are waiting for my to explain the relevence btween the Indian River, Playalinda, Microplankton, and "Wolf Prints." Well, as an author, I'd rather you read the book to find out! As an avid reader, I know how it is to wait on a book to come out. Sadly for you, the author takes precidence in my head, and you will have to wait until the book is out to read further than the tidbit I've already given you and the information about the setting. I'll get into some of the characters next, of course, but I'll not give anything away. An optimistic estimate about when Wolf Prints wuill be finished would be this Summer. Mind you, I'm getting married and moving around thanks to the Army within that timeframe, but I will do my best. Enjoy!
